Huawei eKitEngine AP661 is an indoor AP in compliance with Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax). It can simultaneously provide services on 2.4 GHz (2x2 MIMO), 5 GHz (2x2 MIMO) and 5 GHz (4x4 MIMO) frequency bands, achieving a device rate of up to 6.575 Gbps. Built-in smart antennas of the AP enable always-on Wi-Fi signals for users, significantly enhancing users’ wireless experiences. These strengths make it ideal for densely populated scenarios such as mobile office, education, and stadiums.

AP661 is designed to transmit a Wi-Fi 6 wireless network, it supports the IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax protocols in the 2.4 GHz band and IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac/ax in the 5 GHz band. The device can conduct three radio transmissions simultaneously: 2.4 GHz 2x2 MIMO, 5 GHz 2x2 MIMO and 5 GHz 4x4 MIMO - 2 + 2 + 4. Thanks to this, the maximum theoretical throughput is 574 Mb/s in 2.4 GHz, 1201 Mb/s in 5 GHz 2x2 MIMO and 4804 Mb/s 5 GHz 4x4 MIMO. Such high speed will be useful especially in places that are intended for many users at the same time. The AP661 will provide adequate throughput in situations where standard APs would not be able to deliver sufficient speed to customers.

The access point also uses many additional functions that positively affect the network quality. MU-MIMO allows you to simultaneously transmit and receive data from many clients, which eliminates the phenomenon of data queuing. Beamforming is used to shape the beam to improve connection to devices at the edge of the range, and TWT saves energy by waking up connected devices only when a transmission is established. 

Additionally, the device supports Bluetooth transmission (BLE 5.2), which you can use for, among others, remote management, location or IoT.

2.5G Ethernet port, 1G Ethernet port, USB port, PoE power supply, DC socket
The offered product is equipped with one 2.5G Ethernet port (10/100/1000/2500 Mb/s) and one gigabit Ethernet port (10/100/1000 Mb/s). The 2.5G port also serves as a PoE power input in the IEEE 802.3 at standard, you can also supply power using a standard DC socket (12 V). The maximum power consumption, excluding USB, is 21.2 W.

The manufacturer used a USB port with the intention of using it to connect an external modem for IoT, e.g. ZigBee or RFID.

Smart Antennas
The access point has Smart antennas, the antenna structure consists of many elements that can work independently of each other. Depending on your needs, the antenna elements can modify the shape of the main beam to provide the best possible coverage to the connected clients. The device adapts to radio conditions and provides much better signal coverage than APs equipped with regular omnidirectional antennas. The energy gain is 4 dBi in the 2.4 GHz band and 5 dBi in the 5 GHz band.

Up to 1536 customers
Huawei AP661 can serve up to 1,536 clients (512 / radio) and was designed for very difficult locations, such as fairs or concert halls. The manufacturer suggests that the access point supports a maximum of 300 clients at the same time. In this configuration, it is able to provide each of them with a bandwidth of approximately 22 Mb/s, which is completely sufficient for standard Internet use. The system supports load balancing and smart roaming; if one access point is too busy, users are switched to another.

The DFA algorithm is used to automatically detect the consumption of wireless channels and recognize overlapping transmissions. When multiple access points are used, they operate so as not to interfere with each other. Additionally, EDCA and airtime scheduling technologies allow you to plan the channel usage schedule for a given client device, so that each of them has the same access to the network.

An important advantage of the system based on AP eKitEngine is the optimization of network use by client devices. Clients with too low range or too low connection speed are automatically disconnected to improve overall transmission quality. AP661 also has a 5G-prior function - client devices are connected mainly in the 5 GHz band to provide them with the best possible bandwidth. As a result, load and interference in the 2.4 GHz band are significantly reduced.

Advanced wireless system
The offered product is designed to work in a large wireless system consisting of many access points. The network created in this way is able to cover even very large areas, depending on the number of devices used. The system supports data roaming, users are automatically switched between individual access points without losing connection.

Huaweia solutions offer many functions related to bandwidth control, improving transmission quality and security. To authorize users, you can use, among others: 802.1x, MAC address or captive portal. An advanced work management and monitoring system will allow you to reduce the time you spend on network administration, e.g. by automatically detecting and recognizing various types of errors.

Four operating modes
Fat AP - the access point works independently, configuration and management is similar to standard wireless routers. It works well in small networks where you only use one AP.
Leader AP - allows you to configure the device as a "leader", and thus take over the function of a controller in the network. You can connect other access points to the device in Leader AP mode to create an extensive system. This mode works best in small networks, e.g. in an office or restaurant. It allows you to reduce the costs associated with purchasing an additional controller.
Cloud AP - in this mode, you can manage the access point from a platform available in the cloud. This platform makes it much easier to monitor work and perform initial configurations, and does not require the use of additional management devices.
Fit AP - this is the basic operating mode in which the access point connects to the controller.

Numerous applications
Huawei AP661 will work best in places where you expect a large number of users at the same time, e.g. in concert halls or exhibition halls. High bandwidth means that even with many clients, the device can provide each with a sufficiently fast transmission. AP661 supports numerous modern functions and can handle very difficult locations where the performance of other access points is insufficient.
